Bilateral Posterior Sternoclavicular Dislocations
We present the case of a professional horse jockey with chronic, bilateral, posterior sternoclavicular dislocations. Traumatic dislocation of the sternoclavicular is a relatively rare but potentially devastating injury. Posterior sternoclavicular dislocations occur less frequently than anterior dislocations and require careful and complete evaluation because of the potential for serious complic...

متن کاملPosterior Sternoclavicular Dislocations: A Brief Review and Technique for Closed Management of a Rare But Serious Injury
Posterior sternoclavicular dislocations are rare but serious injuries. The proximity of the medial clavicle to the vital structures of the mediastinum warrants caution with management of the injury. Radiographs are the initial imaging test, though computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are essential for diagnosis and preoperative planning. This paper presents an efficient diagnostic...
متن کاملSternoclavicular joint reconstruction technique
While most sternoclavicular joint (SCJ) dislocations can be managed non-operatively with closed reduction, persistent or recurrent instability associated with pain or inability to work necessitates operative management [1]. Non-operative management has further been shown to result in symptomatic degenerative changes in the SCJ [2]. Reconstruction is generally indicated in the setting of symptom...
متن کاملSternoclavicular erosions in polymyalgia rheumatica.
The incidence of erosive arthropathy of the sternoclavicular joints in 25 consecutive cases of polymyalgia rheumatica was studied by means of sternoclavicular tomography. Definite erosions were found in 11 patients. Erosions were most likely to be found in patients whose symptoms had been present for more than 6 months.
